Welcome to The Flightline Study Lounge & DIY Café at Fort Novosel!
We are a unique space that provides flight school students, aviators, and spouses with a comfortable and relaxing environment to study, work, or enjoy a cup of coffee. We also offer support and care to the families here at Fort Novosel, including drop-in care events, so you can focus on your goals - or have some fun - with peace of mind.
Here are some of the most common questions we get from our visitors and members. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us.
No. While we exist to support Army Aviation, we are not exclusive to it. We are open to public use. We have designated events for non-military members such as Co-working Mondays.
We welcome anyone who is interested in aviation, learning, or simply enjoying a cup of coffee in a friendly and comfortable setting. We believe that diversity and inclusion are important values that enrich our community and our mission.
No. The lounge is not a members-only lounge. There are regular hours of operation free and open to the public. A membership is required, however, for after-hour access.
Membership has many benefits, such as discounts, reservations, tailored instruction, as well as mental wellness. According to a study by PLOS ONE, having multiple important group memberships can boost personal self-esteem, happiness, and well-being. The study found that belonging to multiple important groups predicts personal self-esteem in children, older adults, and former residents of a homeless shelter.
Bottomline up front, you’re not making anyone rich. The study lounge is not a for-profit business in the sense that we don’t sell items that generate income.
That said, there are still operating costs, repairs, maintenance, etc. The memberships help offset these costs to keep the doors open for current and future aviators.
We want to be what Mother Ruckers was to the aviation community, but in our own way and for years to come.
Members have access to enhanced benefits such as discounted services, reservation options, and tailored instruction. The IP instructors are paid and these events are funded through memberships.
Members-only events are designed to provide members with more opportunities to learn, create, and connect with other aviators and professionals. Some examples of members-only events are:
Co-working Mondays: A chance to network and collaborate with other remote workers and entrepreneurs in a stimulating and cozy environment.
Instructor Led Discussions: A fun and interactive way to practice your academic skills and learn from experienced IP instructors.
Lakota Care Friday/ Saturdays: A special event for parents who want to enjoy some time off from their children and or go out for a date night.
Membership costs vary based on tiers. There are three levels:
Common Access,
Advanced Access,
Flightline Certified Access (Most Popular)
Monthly options are available, however annual payments offer up to 25% savings.
Lakota Care is not a daycare. It is a child-specific event offered bi-weekly, based on demand, in the evenings of Friday and Saturday. As demand increases, we plan to offer daytime events. The purpose is to offer parents the opportunity to alleviate stress through time away from their children.
According to a study by Verywell Mind, taking vacations or breaks from parenting can help improve physical and mental health, as well as the quality of relationships - an often-overlooked component during flight school that is essential to the aviator’s ability to focus and succeed.
Attendee ID is verified, and member access is denied while Lakota Care events are active.
